Justin Gets It

The heart of the Gospel is that, in Christ, God does for us what we cannot do ourselves. According to the Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, this goes as much for Christian communities as it does for Christians themselves. In her sermon for the installation of Justin Crisp as our new rector, the Rev. Fleming Rutledge takes us inside the mind of the Apostle to show us that Christian revival, personally and collectively, is due not to charismatic leadership or individual spiritual effort but to the gracious action of the Spirit of God. It’s not on us to find God. God has found us in Jesus Christ. God is the subject of the sentence, not us—to our joy and His glory.
