Mission and Outreach

“Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
Matthew 25. 37ff

What is Mission?

Our Mission efforts strive to bring the love of Christ tangibly to others through our hands-on involvement in service to local organizations.  We seek to provide parishioners with opportunities to participate actively through parish-wide appeals and activities out in the community. The high level of personal involvement by St. Barnabas parishioners in these efforts has long been a strength of our Mission-oriented programs.

What is Outreach?

The Outreach component of our ministry provides financial support to programs, missions, and organizations.  The oversight and designation of these monetary allocations from parishioners and from our budget seek to strengthen the good works of existing programs in our community and beyond. Over the years our contributions have assisted a number of charities whose programs are not adequately funded from other sources.

Among these are:

Episcopal Relief and Development

Bishops Fund for Children

Local Community Centers:
Building One Community

Community Centers, Inc.

Laurel House
Inspirica - "From Homeless to Home" (previously St. Luke's Lifeworks)
Carver Center and Summer Camp
