Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with a song.

Psalm 100

The Parish Life Committee is a ministry of the church that seeks to plan and host a series of fellowship events throughout the church year We hope to offer roughly one event per month from September thru June. Our events range in scope and size from parish-wide evening parties and potluck parish picnics to smaller gatherings like theatre outings and suppers following Evening Prayer and a guest speaker. For the committee, Hospitality is key; therefore, we invite parishioners to participate through hosting coffee hour by providing treats each Sunday.  Finally, the Parish Life Committee hosts special events from time to time, every three to four years, for major fundraising events.

This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do at St. Barnabas Church. Get in touch with any questions about how you can Partner with Us today.

There is no shortage of possibilities to experience a range of arts and culture outings in the wide metropolitan area.  We should consider calling our outings what many of them really are; pilgrimages.  We recently returned to the Met Cloisters to see the fascinating exhibit; “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”  Over the past several years groups from St. Barnabas Church have been to The Morgan Library & Museum to see the exhibit “Illuminating Faith” as well as the lovely local gem, the Bruce Museum.  Exhibit topics looked at how illuminated manuscripts expressed the sacrament of the Holy Communion and the Seven Deadly Sins. Last fall a pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral saw an enthusiastic bunch of pilgrims venture to the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion.  Plans are in the works for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in May, 2020.

A mainstay of our Sunday morning worship is the significant participation by many teams of volunteers.  These include the Altar Guild, Acolytes, Lay Readers, Chalice Bearers, and Ushers.
