Christian Education & Youth Ministry
Church School and Youth Ministries
St. Barnabas offers Church School for children in Preschool through grade 7.

Our preschool and kindergarten aged children use a modified version of Godly Play in their class with a hands-on approach to learning the Bible stories.

Grades 1-7 use the Hands-on Bible Curriculum by Group Publishing.

Our Church School program begins at 9:45 with Children's Worship. The children go into Church School at 10:00 and join their parents in church in time for Communion. Those young people who have aged out of Church School are encouraged to become acolytes or even to help teach in the Church School.

Nursery
Nursery care is provided all year for infants and toddlers during the 10 a.m. services.

Special Programs Involving our Youth
Christmas Pageant
Epiphany Pageant coordinated by our Acolyte ministry
Presentation of Prayer Books to children who have completed the Confirmation Program
Presentation of Bibles to graduating high school seniors
Special theme programs held throughout the year
Communion classes for children up to the fifth grade

Confirmation Classes
Our Confirmation program for young people at St. Barnabas typically targets 7th grade and up but is intended to be when the young person is ready to make that commitment. The primary text is the Bible. The topics of the class are designed to help the young people develop a strong foundation in their faith and a desire to continue in their Christian walk both as an active member of the Church and in their life in the world. The program includes class discussion, outreach projects, and participation in special worship services. The class starts the last Sunday in September and meets twice a month following the 10:00 a.m. service

Youth Ministries
Young people are encouraged to serve God through service to the church. Presently youth are involved as acolytes, youth choir members, lectors, ushers, and Church School and nursery helpers. They have supported various local and international outreach efforts, including the Christmas Sharing Party, Habitat for Humanity, and support for Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana.
