About Us
Our Mission
St. Barnabas is an active, growing community that provides nurture, support, and guidance to enable all its members to deepen their faith and to carry out Christ’s work in the world.

Our Vision
St. Barnabas aspires to be:

•
An Episcopal fellowship that invites all people to experience through worship the joy and wonder of God’s kingdom.
A serene and holy space in which one can encounter the living God.
A lively community marked by the lilt of laughter, the voices of children, and a magnetic energy which beckons others to become involved.
A caring family whose gentle touch and unhurried attention nurture the building of supportive relationships.
A body of Christians committed to respond to the serious challenges in the church and in the world.

Founded in the 1950s, St. Barnabas has been an independent parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut since 1967. The present church structure was designed by noted Greenwich resident and architect Philip Ives and constructed in 1958. Today St. Barnabas is a thriving congregation that serves the greater Greenwich area. Our Sunday liturgy is the heart of our spiritual life as we gather as a community for worship, for learning, and for fellowship. Through a wide variety of outreach programs we share our faith and our resources by making a difference in our community, our state, and the world.

Our worship is expressed through the 1979 Book of Common Prayer using both Rite I and Rite II. In all of the services of worship the Prayer Book content provides a balanced expression of praise, penitence, petition, intercession, and especially thanksgiving—all informed by Holy Scripture as Biblical selections from the lectionary conform to the seasons of the Church Year.
The Episcopal Church in the US is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
